Crate Training Your Child

A 54-year-old Connecticut woman, Kathlyn Arnold, was arrested but made bail after her initial hearing on charges of risking injury to a minor, all because she kept her son in a pet crate because he kept acting out and soiling his bed.

Really? This is all she can be charged with? That is hugely disappointing.

Thankfully the boy has a sister who told school officials she was tired because she had to keep letting her brother out of his 'sleep locker.' What an adorable euphemism.

Ms. Arnold said she had been seeking help for her son's behavior according to Sgt. Kevin Roche.
He open mindedly commended her for that but admitted it was not normal practice to put a child in a dog crate for an extended period of time. The crate measured 33" x 22" and was 30" high.

Lest you think this woman is some sort of monster, you should know that she specifically selected the crate because her kids played in it when they kept a litter of kittens inside. Sgt. Roche advised that the crate had "good memories for both kids and the family."

I'll bet not any more.

The police in Old Saybrook will not say how old the boy is.
