Law and Disorder

Rumor has it that NBC has canceled the long running television show, Law & Order. The show's been running for 20 seasons and has spawned spin offs such as Law & Order: SVU and Law & Order: Criminal Intent.

NBC is currently denying the gossip. Let us remind you that this is the same network that thought it would be a ratings bonanza to have Jay Leno on Monday through Friday at 10 pm.

Law & Order's ratings are sagging. Really? Maybe that's because you have to be clairvoyant to know when the show is running. It's been bounced from one time slot to another this season.

One of the best things about L&O, and this is in my very humble opinion, is that it's actually filmed in New York. That conveys an air of grittiness and reality that you just can't manufacture on a back lot in Hollywood (hear that, CSI: NY?)

Also, we very rarely get involved in the characters' personal lives, although this year we have been privy to S. Epatha Merkerson's cancer battle, but she's leaving the show anyway. I don't want to watch a soap opera. I just want to see a good whodunit with crisp dialogue, good New York actors and real backdrops. Is that too much to ask?
