A 13-year-old boy with Asperger's Syndrome was found living on the subway for eleven days. I am so glad he wasn't hogging seats in Vincent Martinez's subway car.
Story is that Francisco Hernandez, Jr. was afraid he was going to get a 'scolding' at home for doing poorly in school so with $10 in his pocket he rode the rails for eleven days until he was finally discovered by the police at a Coney Island subway station.
Of course, it's not his mother's fault. No, of course not. Everything is always someone else's responsibility. Marisela Garcia says that the police didn't really look for the kid because she's a Mexican immigrant.
Yeah, well you know senora, maybe you shouldn't be threatening your kid about doing well in school even though he's a high functioning autistic. Comprendo?
