PETA gets upset over Thanksgiving? What do they have to say about the crazy crap pictured above I wonder?
Tuesday started the feast celebrated every five years of Gadhimai, a Hindu goddess of power and in case you missed it you might want to reserve your spot in Nepal for 2014.
Whereas I'm all for goddesses, especially powerful ones, if I were Gadhimai I don't know I'd be cool with the slaughter of 200,000 buffaloes, goats, chickens and pigeons who are killed as part of the festivities. Of course, the celebrants aren't doing this for no reason. They are doing this so that they please the goddess and have prosperity, and if you eat the meat of the animals you sacrifice, you'll be protected from evil. So there, silly pagans.
Seriously, there are animal rights activists who are trying to end the traditional blood fest, but so far they've been unsuccessful in Nepal.
Lucky for them I'm not the goddess. I'll stay in the good ole US of A where Sarah Palin is our goddess of the animal slaughter.
