What Happened When I Sold My Soul

Readers of this blog have no doubt noticed the Google ads that appear just before my pithy observations.

First of all, please accept my apology.

May I explain?

I thought it might be a good idea to earn extra money so I signed on for AdSense. After the first week I noticed I had earned $1.06 and I wouldn't be able to see any money until I earned $100. That could be a very long time.

I tried to remove my blog from AdSense, but the directions are nonsensical and designed so that you will never get away from their advertising.

The funny thing is that the ads they chose to run are obviously based on the content of my posts, but run contrary to what I am saying.

I tell Ted Haggard to come out of the proverbial closet, they ask "Is Your Husband Gay?"

I rail against unregulated IVF, they post an ad for a doctor who performs them.

I call the evangelicals on their bigotry, they run ads for evangelical churches.

It really is rather funny, but still annoying.

Rest assured, when I have the strength I will try to remove this link again.

Hi 'Moons in Leo'
I think you could probably just Remove the Gadget from your Layout screen. (Click on Edit and then Remove.)
Also if you want to cancel the account with Google there is a Help article at www.google.com/adsense
Click on Help at top right corner;
select 'Cancellation' in 'My Account' section;
and then, 'How do I cancel my account?'
I see "Google will not make payments for any earned balance less than $10.00." - Sorry!
Cheers,
Peter (aka Que)

Thanks for the help, Que! I'll give it a go when I have some time and a clear head!
