Okay we know New York Governor David Paterson is legally blind, but we didn't think he was metaphorically blind as well.
For some reason he selected Congresswoman Kirsten Gillibrand to be Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton's successor to the U.S. Senate.
Say wha?
Gillibrand votes 100% with the NRA which may endear her to the hunters in her upstate NY district, but will not play well downstate. In fact Representative Carolyn McCarthy, who lost her husband to a shooting massacre on the Long Island Railroad, is expressing that she will oppose Gillibrand in the 2010 special election for the Senate seat.
Caroline Kennedy Schlossberg, who thought it might be fun to be a U.S. Senator, abruptly dropped out of the race due to 'personal' issues. There is speculation that she has a little 'nannygate' going on, but that has not been confirmed.
