Classmates.com is always trying to get me to sign up as a "Gold Member" or some other type of member so they can suck money out of my wallet, but I have to admit they almost had me yesterday when they promised me I could see my fifth grade nemesis, Alice.
Sure enough, there she was, in all her middle aged glory. Not unlike the charming 11 year old who beat the crap out of me in the coat closet in the fifth grade.
That was when she offered to give me my "birthday punches" in the privacy of the coat room.
Someone as gracious as Alice is not someone you forget easily. She was a "child model" with long dark hair and a sinewy frame and it looks as if she has never lost her ease in front of a camera.
What I like most about this photo of Alice is the fact that she is standing under a pulpit with Christ on the cross right over her head. Sort of like one of the centurions about to play craps to see who gets Christ's robe as a prize.
Good to see you again, Alice.

When the men on the chessboard
Get up and tell you where to go
And you've just had some kind of mushroom
And you're mind is moving slow
Go ask Alice
I think she'll know
