Holy Sacred Cow Batman!

As proof that one man's freak is another man's goddess, there comes the story of Lakshmi.

Born in Northern India she is now two years old and named after a goddess because she has four arms and four legs. Not to mention four kidneys.

As I write this she is undergoing surgery to remove the extraneous limbs. She is the survivor of two fetuses. Her body absorbed the twin; hence the goddess-like appearance.

We can only hope she will survive the surgery and be able to lead a normal life. As it is, she cannot walk and without the surgery would not survive till adolescence.

One wonders what her life will be like when she returns to her village. What will the townsfolk do now that she no longer looks like a goddess?

And, more importantly I think, why does multiple limbs a goddess make?
