Dirty Collar

It seems like quite a while since we commented on priestly pedophilia.

In the news today is the tale of Monsignor Charles M. Kavanagh, once an influential cleric, now defrocked. That means he can no longer turn bread and wine into Christ's body and blood. Hopefully it also means he doesn't have easy access to young boys.

What makes the former reverend different is that he 1) was only accused by one seminarian of inappropriate behavior, 2) never stopped denying the accusation and 3) went through eight years of the Church's investigation into his alleged bad behavior which, in Roman Catholic Church time is like a nanosecond.

Perhaps Mr. Kavanagh is innocent and the church is just trying to make nice to all of the abused by throwing the baby out with the holy water. Stranger things have happened.
