Laptop Dance

Pilot Richard Cole - It's not as if he was getting a lapdance!

Remember last week we told you about the Northwest Airline jet that overshot its target of Minneapolis by 150 miles and it was rumored that the pilots were either arguing or sleeping?

The pilots, Richard Cole and Timothy Cheney (now who do I know with a name like that?), got all sensitive that anyone would even suggest they would be fighting or sleeping when they were supposed to be paying attention to flying a huge aircraft.

Okay, well why did you two guys not talk to the air traffic controllers for nearly an hour and, you know, miss that huge airport?

It seems these sensitive dudes were on their freaking laptops which is absolutely, positively against the rules!

Now I didn't even like it when my New York City cabdriver was talking on his cellphone and writing on his laptop while driving and I was pretty sure it was a hazard, but no matter how much it seemed like he was going too fast he wasn't traveling at a few hundred miles an hour.

I guess I hold airplane pilots to a different standard, but I think I wasn't with the program. I mean, who am I to say they shouldn't have been looking for a hotel and/or restaurant in Minneapolis while landing the plane? I'm no airline executive.
