Breaking Very, Very Bad
Let us introduce you to "Monsignor Meth." His real name is Kevin Wallin but you'll understand his alias in a moment.
Once upon a time he was a priest with the Diocese of Bridgeport, CT and the pastor of St. Augustine's Cathedral. Then things went bad for the 61-year-old cleric, and no, it does not involve altar boys.
A couple of years ago the Diocese started getting complaints from rectory personnel about Monsignor Wallin's strange behavior. Seems he was entertaining odd looking men and engaging in sex acts with them, sometimes while he was dressed as a woman.
It probably won't surprise you to learn that the Diocese didn't do much about the reported problem.
In July of 2011 he was granted a sabbatical allegedly for a 'health assessment;' a euphemistic way to say they were trying to assess just how far he'd traveled on the train to Crazy Town. Apparently the monsignor had been a real favorite of New York Cardinal, Edward Egan. Reportedly they attended Broadway musicals together. That should have been the first tip that something was amiss.
When Wallin didn't show up for a follow up 'health assessment' in May of 2012 he was suspended by the Diocese, but continued to collect a paycheck until this month when he was arrested for his involvement in a cross country meth ring.
Yes, the Diocese even managed to overlook the Monsignor's purchase of a Connecticut sex shop called Land of Oz & Dorothy's Place. [We suspect he needed some place to launder the drug money.]
The tenor of the remarks coming from the Diocese and Monsignor Meth's former parishioners makes it sounds as if somehow he was possessed by the devil rather than having made very bad choices on his own, but that is something we've come to expect from the faithful.
