It's a Freaking Turtle

This is a picture of the late, great Lonesome George.  George was a hundred year old Galapagos land tortoise and he was found dead the other day before Willard Scott could give him a Smucker's shout out on the Today Show.

A mate was never found for George so there won't be any more Pinta Island tortoises.

Now there are still other species of giant tortoises in the Galapagos islands, but they're a bit different from those on Pinta Island.

Shit happens.

Species die out.

However, George's passing should not be confused with the end of the world.  There are plenty of other big tortoises and maybe their shells are a little different from his but is that really such a big deal?

Most of us won't make it to 100.  George had a long, albeit lonely, life.
