You may have heard about the movie being released today, "Bully." It's about kids bullying other kids. No, we haven't seen it. The film is being released unrated since the MPAA wanted to give it an R rating due to the language and that would prevent teenagers from seeing it without an adult.
Kids have always been bullied. We were bullied. Our kids were bullied. Kids can be real little shits. Have you read or seen the movie "Lord of the Flies?"
What we don't understand is the number of suicides committed by children who are bullied. Is it a huge number? Has it increased in recent years? If so, why? It can't be because now kids have cell phones and Twitter accounts.
If what we hear is to be believed, adults are only recently starting to take bullying seriously. Really? Or are we just hearing about it more?
