
For every dollar in revenue that retailers made, they will have to give back 9.9 cents in returns. In good times it's more like 7 cents.
Jennifer Kerseten of Miami spent $300 on gifts for her nephews the day after Thanksgiving and yesterday she returned half of them.
Most heavily returned items -- consumer electronics. Maybe you didn't actually need ten smart phones or 3 plasma screen televisions or that $2 waffle iron that you pepper sprayed other shoppers to get your paws on.
If shopping in a frenzy and elbowing other consumers is a sport, fine. Unfortunately we know that's not the case. The frightening truth is that these shopping fools didn't realize they couldn't afford what they were buying.
