Lost in Translation

Japan - 2011

And the Lord grew weary of giving cancer to children one at a time, so He unleashed the continental plates and attacked the nation of Japan by shaking its roots, including a tsunami to wipe towns off the maps of men.

From looking at the photographs, words seem inadequate to describe the devastation that is now Japan. One news correspondent said it didn't seem like a natural disaster had hit but rather a war.

You might recall sixty-six years ago the United States attempted to accomplish the same result by dropping two nuclear bombs on Japan. Now that same nation is sending aid, not just to clean up after the earthquake and tsunami but to help prevent the nuclear reactors from melting down.

Hiroshima - 1945

The first thing I did this morning was to send a donation to Save the Children specifically for the rescue efforts in Japan, not because I am a philanthropist but rather just another human being on the planet
