This guy is Anibal Cavaco Silva and he's the head honcho of Portugal. Even though he's conservative and is really only for 'opposite' marriage he nevertheless ratified the law permitting same sex marriage because even if he vetoed it, the majority of the legislature is liberal and would only have overturned his veto.
You may recall last week Pope Benedict XVI was in Fatima, Portugal where the Blessed Virgin Mary specifically told three kids in 1917 that same sex couples couldn't marry because it is an abomination.
