The Asbury Park Press reported a woeful tale of a new mother whose dreams of a jolly Christmas have been dashed by "Live Nation," the company that used to put on the lights show at the PNC Bank Arts Center in Holmdel, NJ.
For years, Angela Saragusa couldn't wait until she was a mother so she could take her own child through the Holiday Lights Spectacular at the PNC Bank Arts Center. Feeling blessed with the birth of her daughter last year, Saragusa held off on taking her until this year, when the toddler might appreciate the lights a little more. Saragusa was one year too late, as Live Nation canceled the lights show this holiday season.
Oh, please. Pass the barf bags.
The show was cancelled because no one was going anymore. In 2002, 100,000 cars passed through and in 2008, 10,000.
Listen, Angela. If you think the real meaning of Christmas is sending electricity usage off the power grid, I think you need to rethink things.
And while we're at it, all those people who have thousands of lights on their houses and lawns, blaring Christmas carols, animated Santas, life sized nativity scenes and Disney characters should be taxed for pollution.
Bah humbug.
