According to the NY Times, which you assume would know about this:
Conceived by the city’s transportation commissioner, Janette Sadik-Khan, the plan is partly inspired by the redevelopment of downtown Copenhagen, many of whose medieval streets and plazas have been closed off to cars in the past decade.
Look, lady, Denmark is not the US and Copenhagen is not New York. Maybe they don't care if they sit in a cab for half an hour extra because you thought it was a wonderful idea to have pedestrian plazas in Times Square. And there aren't any medieval streets in Manhattan either in case you haven't noticed.
Yeah, pedestrian plazas. Freaking delightful.

I guess Joni MItchell might think this is a good idea. Kind of the opposite of "pave paradise put up a parking lot" you get "Unpave NYC's heart... put up with a bunch of stupid tourists"
Again the friggin' disney influence.
Kidnapped again.
Kate Gosselin needs to get that white lawn chair off of the front of her swanky new garage and head to NYC with it.
