Americans Never Ending Need for Useless Crap

No matter how bad the economy is, it seems that we of the United States can never get over our desire to fill our homes with useless items most of which are made in China.

This item that you can't live without is actually on the second shelf above the trunk.

Looks like a shelf full of highbrow volumes that anyone would be proud to have in their library or reading room, doesn't it?

Wrong!

It's medium-density fiberboard! And it fits in front of the trashy Harlequin novels that you'd be embarrassed for anyone to see so that all you're friends will think you've forsaken bodice rippers for Canterbury Tales.

Actually it's called Faux Book Organizational Shelf Cover by Linda Dano and you can purchase it on QVC. It's at a lunchtime special price of $14.54 with $6.72 for shipping and handling. Plus tax, of course.

I think I'll need about 1000 of them to hide my wife's collection. Mayber matches would be cheaper.

I'd opt for the matches.
