2009 Cain and Abel Award Winner

Mom Paula Carberry holds pic of deceased son - the murderer's half-brother

Unless this is the year of heinous crimes, I'm thinking even though it's March it's not too early to bestow this award.

The winner? Mykel Mendes of Hyannis, Massachusetts.

Mykel may be only 13, but he managed to kill his older brother, Jordan, in order to take over the family's drug business. And we don't mean they owned the local pharmacy.

Did the murderer have zero chance of coming out normally because his name is misspelled? Perhaps. Also not helping is the fact that dad will be in the slammer for a long time due to his misdeeds.

It's confusing because Mykel and Jordan have different mothers but the same dad. Please try to follow along.

Mykel's attorney claims that he loved his older brother. Funny, I would never have guessed.

Mykel and his comrades allegedly stole $10,000 in cash from Jordan, killed him, poured gasoline on his body and set him on fire.

Of course all three defendants are denying they had anything to do with the murder despite the fact that they took the cash, went to a car dealership and bought a used BMW.

Good call, Moons. Certainly biblical proportions.
