Back to the story of Travis the 14-year-old chimpanzee who was shot dead by Stamford, Connecticut police after he went berserk and ripped the face off Charla Nash.
Sandra Herold, his owner or mother as the case may be, at first said she gave him Xanax that day to calm him because she could see Travis was agitated. Now she says she didn't give him medication.
As far as I'm concerned, it's not an issue of whether or not she gave him an anti-anxiety medication. There are many more questions that need to be asked and answered.
Did Travis bite someone in 1996 or didn't he?
Does Connecticut have a law requiring beasts like Travis to be registered or doesn't it? Apparently Travis was 'grandfathered' in and didn't have to be registered since he came to live with Herold before the new statute became law.
The story was that Sandra called her friend Charla to come over and help her get Travis back into the house. Wouldn't it have been more prudent to call Animal Control for help with that? Or did she want to keep the chimp under the radar?
Travis, like many humans, could be dressed in a suit and tie but underneath was still an animal.

I still can't get over the fact that the chimp was 200 lbs. They should have killed him when he hit 150.
