First of all, let me say that I did not see all of the ads in Sunday's Super Bowl. The ones I did see seemed to have two basic themes: violence and sex.

They didn't come anywhere near the brilliance of commercials of years past.

The Doritos commercial that the two unemployed brothers put together picturing the snowglobe crystal ball was as competent as any of the 'professional' offerings. There was a discussion at my house on whether or not the boss at the end was hit with the snowglobe in his knees or nuts. The men thought the nuts, the women (but not me) knees. He got hit in the nuts.

For me without question, the crowning moment of the evening came when Bruce Springsteen slid crotch-first into the camera lens.

Let that be a lesson to you, kids. He's still The Boss even though he'll be 60 this year.
