One of the 13 Spam restaurants in Austin, MNIn case you were wondering where Spam comes from, and we don't mean the Spam that shows up in your in-box, it comes from Austin, Minnesota.
It's manufactured by the Hormel Foods Corporation and since July two shifts of workers have been toiling seven days a week to pump out this sort-of meat product due to the high demand.
A 12-ounce can of Spam, marketed as “Crazy Tasty,” costs about $2.40.
When times are tough, Americans race to buy sort-of food. Other sort-of foods that are selling well:
- Velveeta
- Kraft Macaroni & Cheese
- Jell-O
- Kool-Aid
- Pancake mixes
- Instant potatoes
