Oh Dear

Vice Presidential Candidate Alaskan Governor Sarah Palin announced today that her seventeen year old unmarried daughter, Bristol, is five months pregnant. Sarah is keeping the baby and marrying the father.

Bristol, pictured above holding her brother, Trig who has Down's Syndrome, was rumored to be Trig's mother. Apparently announcement of her pregnancy will put that rumor to rest.

This news is disturbing on many levels, not the least of which is that another teenaged mother is added to our statistics.

John McCain knew of Bristol's pregnancy and yet did not consider it as a problem with Sarah Palin's candidacy. Is that because Bristol is not having an abortion?

So added to Sarah Palin's lack of experience on a national level we now have news of her family's problem. Will the Governor acknowledge that lack of sex education and reliance on abstinence maybe has as many holes in it as a defective condom?

One of the things I find most distressing is when people make mistakes and can't admit to them.

Senator McCain, you don't have to stick by Mrs. Palin as your candidate. Remember when the Democrats got rid of Tom Eagleton because he'd had electro-shock therapy to combat his depression?

Well, the announcement of your selection for vice-president has been just as shocking, but it's not too late to pick someone else. Maybe Lynn Spears is available.

I think McCain should at least announce he is reconsidering his choice. Call it a pregnant pause.
