What is the Sound of One Crane Falling?

Japanese crane - upright

At a construction site on the upper east side of Manhattan today, another crane fell.

This, on the talons of one having fallen two miles farther south in the middle of March.

Long the symbol of longevity, fidelity and peace, word is that the Japanese cranes are pissed off because they are not the national bird of Japan which is the pheasant.

Please we beg our Asian neighbors -- please elevate the crane to its rightful place as the head of your audubon food chain. Otherwise, we fear what further action may be taken on the streets of New York.
