Baby, Don't Go!

The local New York news has been pink blanketed this week with pictures of an adorable baby girl. The child was abandoned in the back of a livery cab and turned over to authorities at a firehouse by the cab driver.

My first suspicion that something was amiss was when it turned out that the cab driver, who was being hailed as a hero, was named "Klever."

First of all, is anyone really named Klever? And if so, are they, in fact, clever?

I thought not. The fact that Klever did not speak English was my first tip off. If he were truly clever, I thought he should speak at least 27 different languages fluently.

As it turns out, Klever was not. And he was also a liar.

The baby was born to a fourteen year old girl who had been impregnated by a twenty-seven year old man. Klever was dating the father's twenty-one year old sister.

The baby's mother ran off apparently because she was being beaten by the baby's father. The father couldn't take care of the child and so the clever story was concocted.

Just another charming real life adventure in the Big City. Maybe not clever, but true.
