Admittedly I did not blog about football this season.
In 2006 I did not watch a single televised Giants' football game. I had been too emotionally invested in the New York Yankees and did not have the wherewithal to withstand watching their play.
2007 was different. The Yankees had let me down again, but I was feeling a bit stronger. Maybe strong enough to watch the Giants.
They opened the season with two losses.
Well, I reasoned, if you guys aren't going to try, I am not going to watch.
Then Michael Strahan returned to play and the tide turned. I did not miss a game. By the end of the regular season and their loss (but close) to the Patriots, I knew they could go all the way.
And go all the way they did.
Super Bowl XLII was the best I'd ever seen, and the Giants played the best I'd ever seen.
I actually felt as if the universe believed as I did that cheaters never win and good guys finish first.
That probably isn't true, but I will continue to delude myself until the euphoria of the win fades somewhat and baseball season starts.
