In case you're not aware, NBC's the Today Show is now on for four hours a day.
Somebody must have thought this was a good idea, although I cannot figure out why.
A couple of hours in the morning was all right, three hours was pushing it, but four hours seems downright ridiculous.
It's bad enough that they encourage the lunatic fringe to come, scream and wave outside. Now they will have to come up with even more segments to entice viewers.
We will now be offered tips about raising your kids, fixing your car, assembling tacos and dressing your wedding party with even less time than before.
Have you ever noticed how at the beginning of these segments the Today host and the guest will meander through whatever topic they are pursuing? And then by the time you get to the last few items they are rushing and speaking so quickly that you have absolutely no idea what they are talking about?
What is the point of doing this?
Maybe the producer should just allocate more time to pursue an avenue of knowledge in the first place. Or maybe they can just speed it up in the beginning so that they aren't doing a speed skate through the last thirty seconds.
Or maybe I shouldn't be worrying about this at all since it won't be long before the Today show is running 24/7.

I was going to say I was surprised that you know so much about a show you don't think much of, but then I remembered how, when at a job where I could roll in late, I used to watch Regis & Kelly and the first few minutes of The View every morning. There's something about morning TV. I'll take it over Oprah & co. anyday.
