I have to admit when I heard Steve Fossett was missing, I said, "Who?"
For the life of me, I had no idea who he was.
When I heard he was a millionaire adventurer who likes to set world aviation records, I said, "Oh, that guy."
I'm sorry, I just can't get too worked up about his disappearance. Here was a guy who indulged himself and did exactly what he wanted to do. He had a lot of money so he could afford it.
Of course it'll be sad for his family and friends if he's dead, but there are so many more important people in the world for the general public to care about.
The almost 4,000 soldiers lost in Iraq, for instance. We don't hear enough about them.
I feel remorse over their deaths far more than the loss of Steve Fossett.

I didn't even know he was missing. You realize I get most of my news from you. The important stuff, that is.
