It was one thing watching Katie Couric's colonoscopy on national television, but the new ad from the American Cancer Society crosses the line. What line I'm not sure, but it definitely crosses it.
A man is in a diner with a couple of women talking about his colonoscopy. He uses his mashed potatoes and peas to illustrate his colon and polyps. The potatoes represent his colon and the peas are the polyps. Are you with me so far? Are you ready to puke yet?
Then he stabs one of the peas (polyps) and pops it in his mouth. Yes, he eats his polyp.
His companions find this hilarious.
There is chatter about, "Hey, you didn't just do that?" Hahahaha
Now maybe the American Cancer Society thinks this is a good way to get you to remember to get your colon and rectum checked out, but I find it revolting. Okay, okay it makes me think of colonoscopy, but it also makes it impossible for me to ever eat mashed potatoes and peas again.

One time I put a coke bottle in my mashed potatoes.
I still don't know why.
