Did you know that about one child per day is run over in the family driveway?
Usually the vehicle involved is an SUV or a light truck. Usually the driver is Mom or Dad. And usually they are driving in reverse.
I saw an interview on the New York news the other day. A two year old had just been released from the hospital after being run over by Dad in their driveway and suffering various injuries.
Dad said, "I just hope it doesn't happen again."
Unless you're going to tie up Junior and place him directly behind the tire, a certain amount of caution and common sense should prevent an accident of this nature from occurring.
This might be a startling concept, but if you know where your children are at all times you will know when it's a good time to back out of the driveway. Or not.

I like what the father said. That's like saying, "I hope I don't kill anyone today." The implication is that all one can do is hope - there is no action one can take to avoid such disaster. Just sit and hope.
Alas, my prayers were not answered. I just killed someone.
