Beheading Canceled

Abdul Rahman, the Afghan who converted to Christianity some sixteen years ago, has been given a reprive by the Afghan president and will not be executed for disavowing Islam.

Now Abdul did not piss on the Koran to my knowledge nor did he have the latest Danish cartoon of Mohammed tatooed on his buttocks, but still he was not allowed the choice of religion.

This may come as a shock, but a good chunk of the world's governments are not democracies.

In fact, the history of the world includes some grisly stories of religious intolerance.

Are the Muslims still pissed about the Crusades? Can't we all just be friends and get along like the folks in the Coca-Cola commercial?

Isn't it just a small world, after all?

The truth is the reason Abdul got so close to his fate was because he thought it was funny to say at his hearing, "I'd beholding to you if you cancel my beheading for me."

He wasn't gonna be executed for being a Christian. He was gonna be executed for being cute.

And can you blame them?
