I've been trying to come up with one positive effect of organized religion on humanity and I can't think of any. Maybe that's an indication of my lack of imagination and insight, but to prove I have an open mind I invite your comments on the matter.
If the white Christian European men hadn't won the Crusades, none of us would be pissing on the Koran.
In a world without organized religion, we might be able to avoid organized warfare. Doesn't it seem as if every global skirmish has religion at its root? Because every religion is convinced that it is the one true belief.
We're seeing this even at our own U.S. Air Force Academy that has been taken over by born-again Christians who are intolerant of any other religion. Isn't it unchristian to call someone, "a big fat Jew?" Have they forgotten that Jesus was a Jew (weight unknown)?
There is something incongruous about murdering in the name of Allah, or Yahweh or God unless your vision of the Almighty is one of a butcher.
Sometimes on Sunday I feel as if I should be attending a Christian worship service. I won't be doing that again this week, nor will I be going to the temple or the mosque.
Then again, I won't be killing anyone either.

I had no idea! Did he wear the shorts under his robes or was the robe business just a "cover up" as it were?
