There's Always Room for Jell-O

First of all, we thought we were reading The Onion when we saw this article, but no, it was the front page of the New York Times.

Secondly, we had no idea there was such a thing as the Jell-O Museum, never mind that it's near Rochester, NY. Granted, it doesn't look like much of anything but it is a DEATH TRAP.

Two years ago an 81-year-old disabled vet named Frank LaMont, Jr. was visiting the museum in his motorized scooter. Unfortunately, he rolled out of the elevator and fell three feet with his scooter landing on top of him. He died from neck and head injuries.

Now his family is suing everybody and everything they can think of for negligence. Maybe Frank shouldn't have been driving.

Could it be that visitors were given more Jell-O shots than they could handle?

The Ultimate Good Sport

This man is Cornelius Dupree, Jr. and he was just released from a Texas prison after serving thirty years for a crime he didn't commit.

Oh yes, you've heard similar stories, but Dupree holds the record for having been imprisoned the longest in Texas despite his innocence. Since 2001, 41 prisoners in the Lone Star State have been exonerated after DNA proved they were innocent.

Which begs the question: How many inmates have been executed for crimes they did not commit? My guess is the number is staggering.

Back to Mr. Dupree. He told CNN: "I must admit there's a little anger, but there's also joy."

Cruel and Unusual

This man, Albert G. Brown, Jr., was convicted of raping and murdering a fifteen year old girl in 1980. He was convicted and condemned to death two years later.
Well, flash forward to 2010 and the raping, murdering dude is finally scheduled to get his lethal injection tomorrow night.
Not any more.
Thanks to a federal judge, the execution has been stayed due to the fact that California's supply of sodium thiopental, a barbiturate used in lethal injections, is set to expire on Friday.
Is everybody crazy? If Brown was set to be executed before the drug expired, what is the problem? And even if it has expired, who the hell cares?

Shaken Not Stirred

This may come as a shock, but another person with 'Kennedy' as a surname has been arrested on charges of Driving While Intoxicated.

Mary Richardson Kennedy is actually married to one of those infamous Kennedys, Robert Jr., son of the slain Senator Robert Kennedy. She's his second wife in case you care.

The cops have been called to their home in Bedford, New York a couple of times recently, maybe just to serve cocktails.

Is That Seat Taken? Part Deux

A 13-year-old boy with Asperger's Syndrome was found living on the subway for eleven days. I am so glad he wasn't hogging seats in Vincent Martinez's subway car.
Story is that Francisco Hernandez, Jr. was afraid he was going to get a 'scolding' at home for doing poorly in school so with $10 in his pocket he rode the rails for eleven days until he was finally discovered by the police at a Coney Island subway station.
Of course, it's not his mother's fault. No, of course not. Everything is always someone else's responsibility. Marisela Garcia says that the police didn't really look for the kid because she's a Mexican immigrant.
Yeah, well you know senora, maybe you shouldn't be threatening your kid about doing well in school even though he's a high functioning autistic. Comprendo?
