Immediately after Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords was shot in the head and six others killed, gun sales surged, because, God forbid, Americans wouldn't be able to get their hands on firearms like the Glock pictured above like the one that was used in the Tucson shootings.
In an undercover operation in Arizona, it was discovered that even after customers confided to gun dealers that they probably couldn't pass background checks, they were sold semi-automatic weapons and high capacity magazines. This was at the Crossroads of the West gun show in Phoenix on January 23rd.
Many of the weapons used on city streets can be traced to these nationwide gun shows where dealers go to ply their wares, because it IS all about the money ultimately.
