Things are getting a little too crazy at the Vatican. Okay, crazier than usual.
First, the usual line -- the Pope is still defending priestly celibacy. Okay, even if sex wasn't verboten, we're assuming sex with kids wouldn't be sanctioned. In no context would that be all right. But come on, let the guys get married and have sex with their wives at least. Despite the Vatican's best efforts, it is not the Middle Ages and their offspring will not inherit church property.
Then in a definite break with reality, the Vatican via its newspaper, L'Osservatore Romano, declared that Homer Simpson (and Bart) are true Catholics.
To prove their case, they cite the episode where Liam Neeson gave voice to a priest who converted Homer to Catholicism.
Now I don't know how to break it to them, but the Simpsons aren't real, just as Don Draper isn't either.
Be that as it may, do the priests hang out in the rectory watching the Simpsons with their favorite kids on Sunday nights? Perish the thought.
