Kiddies & Bits

Two little girls have been attacked by coyotes in Rye, New York in less than a week and parents are being advised to keep their kids inside in the evening. Guess that's dinnertime for coyotes too.

Last April coyotes killed a poodle and Rye police caught nine coyotes in traps. Now the cops have been given the okay to shoot coyotes on sight. The only problem is they can't seem to hit any of them though they've been trying.

The estimate of the number of coyotes living in New York State ranges from 10,000 to 25,000. Can't you wildlife experts nail it down any better than that?

The Rye City Council is holding a public forum to discuss the coyote problem at 7 p.m. Thursday at City Hall. Let's see if any coyotes show up.
