Hollow Leg

Just when you think the whole world's gone stark raving bonkers, there comes a little ray of sunlight that turns you into a temporary optimist.

The gentleman above is Dustin Dibble who was awarded $2.3 million by an obviously mentally impaired jury by finding the MTA liable for his loss of his leg.

Four years ago Dibble was shitfaced drunk when he fell on the subway tracks and subsequently lost a leg. The jury decided the train operator should have been able to stop in time before hitting him.

WTF?

Well the New York State's Appellate Court has overturned the decision, focusing instead on the fact that Dibble was drunk which is why he fell on the tracks on the first place. Hopefully this is the first of many decisions that will overturn crazy punitive damages to people who made extremely bad choices and walked away (no pun intended) with fortunes in taxpayer dollars.
