Imagine Helen Thomas is your Auntie Helen. At 89-years-young she shoots her mouth off at family gatherings, saying inappropriate things causing gasps and blushing. One thing about Auntie Helen is you can keep her home to contain the embarrassment.
Well, someone needed to keep Helen Thomas home but nobody did. It was inevitable that she would say something rude on camera, totally embarrassing herself and her profession.
When it finally happened, she said (and I'm paraphrasing here) the Jews needed to get the hell out of Palestine and go back wherever they came from.
Unfortunately, this is what will be remembered about one of the first woman journalists.
A sad ending to a long career, a too long career.
