California Pulls Its Head Out of the Clouds

Frank Karger, gay activist and co-founder of Californians Against Hate, filed a complaint with the state's Fair Political Practices Commission in November of 2008 accusing the Mormons of minimizing their support to defeat same-sex marriage.
Well, hallelujah! The state's commission is fining the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints $5,538 for failing to report about $37,000 in contributions.
"The amount of contributions not reported represented the cost of staff time spent by church employees on activities to help the Yes on 8 committee during the final two weeks of the election."
Granted, the average Salt Lake City lemonade stand pulls that amount in per week, but it is a step in the right direction of keeping that barbed wire between church and state.
