Reefer Madness

According to an Associated Press/CNBC poll, most Americans oppose the legalization of marijuana for recreational purposes. Decidedly more think it might be okay to legalize it for medical purposes.

In November, California voters will decide whether or not to legalize reefer just for the fun of it. The Golden State and 13 others permit its sale only for medical use.

Although a lot of the respondents said too much is spent on trying to enforce the criminalization of marijuana, almost nobody thinks too little is spent, which is encouraging.

Sooner or later the population may acknowledge that legalizing and making a profit from the sale of doobie might be the way to balance the tax books and putting a crimp in the coffers of drug lords.
