Theatre Bombing

Uma Thurman's 2009 movie, "Motherhood," grossed $131 as it opened in the U.K. this weekend. Although it's not a record by any means, it's pretty darn close.

The film grossed $50,000 in the U.S. during its opening weekend in October; all in all a dismal showing for a movie that cost $5 million to make.

Which brings me to the obvious question: Why are most movies being made today shitfests?

Most movies are awful. The only reason I can see for actually making them is to keep the crews employed. If the movie makers can't pull together thirty seconds of decent footage to make a promo, what hope is there of a quality one hundred twenty minutes?
