A Bird in Hand is Worth Two Kids in the Bush

Bird Lover

For some reason this woman, whose name is Donna Louise Greenwell, had two children in her care - one 4 years old and one 5. Nobody seems to know where their parents are.
Apparently Donna Louise decided to sell the kids to a couple, Paul and Brandy Lynn Romero, for $2,000, but the Romeros couldn't come up with the cash. So, being an open minded trader, Donna Louise settled for a cockatoo and $175 in cash.
Hey, listen, skeptics, that cockatoo is worth $1500 or the equivalent of one and a half children.
All of this took place in Louisiana.
Now believe it or not, even in Louisiana it's illegal to sell children and Donna Louise got herself 15 months at hard labor. The Romeros' sentences of five years were suspended for their squawking against the old bird.
