It isn't often that news about torture is absolutely hilarious, but this is.
Detainees at Gitmo were forced to listen to loud music as a torture device and now some of the musicians whose work was labeled 'torturous' are mad as hell!
Up until 2003, music was piped into cells at Guantanamo Bay featuring such artists as Nine Inch Nails (pictured above), Britney Spears, R.E.M., and Pearl Jam. On the heels of this news many band members have formed a National Coalition to Close Guantanamo.
I think it's pretty obvious that they aren't as outraged at torturing detainees as they are at their own musical products being used to do the torturing.
However, rock and roll and heavy metal bands aren't the only things designed to drive you insane.
The Meow mix cat food jingle, the Barney theme song and an assortment of Sesame Street tunes also were pumped into detainee cells.
