Buono Appetito!

Let's admit it. Politics can be fun and Italian politics can be the funnest of all.

Take Silvio Berlusconi. Please. And keep him away from underage Moroccan belly dancers for God's sake.

The Italian prime minister is in a heap o'trouble for allegedly paying this dancer for sex when she was under eighteen. That's an offense in Italy!

Now the Vatican has chimed in about the investigation.

Cardinal Tarcisio Bartone has said that those in authority should show a more 'robust morality.'

Can you imagine? Isn't this a little like the pot calling the kettle black?

The only thing robust about Berlusconi seems to be his sexual appetite.

When Vestments Aren't the Only Things in Your Closet

We just live for this shit.

In this week's issue of the Italian language magazine Panorama owned by Italian Prime Minister Berlusconi, comes an expose of gay priests out on the town.

As a result there is now a call for gay priests in Italy to "Come out, come out, wherever you are!"

"Those who live a 'double life', who do not understand what it is to be a Catholic priest, should not become priests," the diocese said in a statement. The church also said it would pursue "with rigour any behaviour that is unworthy of the priestly life," and "consistency demands that they reveal themselves. We don't wish them any harm, but we cannot accept that the honour of all the others is dragged through the mud because of their behaviour."

If only we could all live in harmony, not passing judgment on others or the lifestyle embraced by consenting adults! What a wonderful world this would be!

That's Amore!

Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi has been accused of a lot of faux pas, but the latest is probably not true.

Allegedly he told survivors of Italy's worst earthquake in thirty years to think of their displacement as a camping trip. Well, there is no record of him saying that on film or tape, so methinks it's just a vicious rumor.

I hope.
