By now you may have heard about the gentleman who was signing during the spoken words at Nelson Mandela's memorial service.
Those among us who are hearing probably weren't paying very much attention to him, but those who are hearing impaired were wondering, 'What the hell is he doing?', because although he was 'signing' his gestures meant nothing.
Well, it's all become very clear what was going on.
The interpreter was hallucinating.
The problem started when he saw angels streaming into the stadium.
He's had episodes like this before and the security guards made him very nervous so he did the best he could under the circumstances.
He was due for his six month check-up with his doctor to see if he should continue on his medication or be checked into a psych ward. The latter would have been the best idea.
Meanwhile, the company that hired him, SA Interpreters, has vanished if in fact it ever existed.
Perhaps it was just another hallucination.
