Lock and Unload

Everybody knows that the key to responsible gun ownership is keeping it locked up and unloaded.

It's not enough to tell a kid to stay away from the gun that they can easily get to and 1) kill themselves 2) kill their siblings 3) kill their teacher(s) 4) kill their classmates or 5) kill someone, anyone.  You have to keep the thing under lock and key.

Take U.S. Congressperson Renee Ellmers.  Please.  And why are you people electing her and those of her ilk?

Maybe because she's a gun advocate?

Well if you take a look at her website you will see just how pro-gun she is, but of course she believes that gun owners must be responsible for their weapons.

Unfortunately, Ms. Ellmers' very own AR-15 was stolen from her North Carolina home.  Her family had gone target shooting, left the weapon leaning against the gun safe and then left the garage door open.

Sayeth her website:

Although she believes that gun owners must be responsible for the use and care of their guns, she does not want to see law-abiding gun owners penalized for the actions of criminals. It has become far too easy to place blame on guns, and their accessibility, rather than the criminals themselves.
