Auf Wiedersen
One of this blog's favorite subjects, Pope Benedict XVI, announced his intention to resign from the papacy on February 28th, thus giving his employer a little over two weeks notice.
This hasn't happened in over 600 years so it's a real attention getter. Some think Cardinal Ratzinger didn't want the appointment in the first place. If that was the case, why did he accept it, knowing he was going to get out the first chance he got?
Then there are others that believe he is resigning because he knows the proverbial caca is going to hit the fan regarding the cover up of priestly pedophilia and all that money laundering that's been going on in the Vatican. You might think he was offered a plea deal if you were inclined to believe that everything in the Vatican isn't as it ought to be.
