You Still Light Up My Life

We're two days into a new year and it might be time to contemplate songs that should never have been written and the people who wrote them.

Yes, that's Joseph Brooks pictured above back in June when he was hauled off to the pokey for luring young women to his apartment with the old promise "I'm gonna make you a star!" which apparently still keeps the ladies coming.

You will no doubt be happy to know that the cases involving eleven starlets he lured to his 'bachelor pad'/'songwriting den' did not prevent him from reaching a settlement in a lawsuit he brought against his former fiancee.

Brooks, 70, who was engaged to Joaly Gomez, 22, gave her a $60,000 Tiffany engagement ring, a $70,000 Mercedes Benz and $500,000 in cash. Prior rulings had determined that she got to keep the little tokens of his affection.

No details on the settlement. Obviously he did not keep his dignity.
