The Chinese government doesn't need any twittering going on about the 20th anniversary of the protests in Tiananmen Square that left hundreds dead, so they've disabled Twitter.They've also pulled the plug on YouTube, Blogspot, Tumblr, Livejournal, Flickr, Microsoft's Live.com and the Huffington Post.
I suppose they'd prefer you just to stand around on street corners and chat live about the wonder that was the 2008 Beijing Olympics.
